Join us for a workshop taught by resident artist and art teacher, Avanji Vaze!
Sashiko is an embroidery technique that arose from of Japan during the Edo period (1603 - 1867), a time of increasing class division. Decreased access to cloth and clothing for the working class, necessitated new methods for patching together and repairing clothing. And so, sashiko was born.
Sewing needles and thread will be provided (Participants are encouraged to bring their own if accessible) .
Because this is our first workshop, there are only 8 spots available; however, there will be many more workshops to come in the future.
Everyone is welcome no matter your experience level. We hope you can join us for the first workshop hosted by Middle Way Art House!
